Whirlpool during pregnancy – is it safe?

The whirlpool is characterized by the fact that the water is much warmer than in a swimming pool or a normal shower. The same applies to the increasingly popular thermal springs. Experts advise against hot baths during pregnancy. Such hot water can cause bleeding in the genital area, for example. It also has a negative effect on the blood supply to the placenta. In extreme cases, it can lead to premature birth. The whirlpool itself is safe during pregnancy. However, the most important thing is the right water temperature, which should not be significantly higher than the body temperature (about 37 °C). However, it is recommended that expectant mothers who suffer from recurrent infections of the female intimate area should refrain from such baths.

Whirlpool or swimming pool during pregnancy – what to choose?

For pregnant women, swimming pool visits are one of the best physical activities during these nine months. Nowadays, there are many different types of classes that are specifically designed for expectant mothers. They work most muscles, relax the body and reduce the swelling that occurs during pregnancy. However, it is advisable to ask the treating doctor beforehand if there are any objections to swimming. The whirlpool can also be a form of activity during pregnancy, but the water must not be hot. Women with pregnancies at risk and those who have experienced spotting in the genital area should avoid going to swimming pools. It is also a good idea to use vaginal probiotics to reduce the risk of infection that can be caused by swimming in a pool or whirlpool.
