We are a biotech company active in the field of cellular therapies, specializing in the collection, preparation, characterization, processing and storage of stem cells and tissues for therapeutic use or for the development of new experimental protocols. We place great emphasis on scrupulously following the guidelines of international bodies developed for the field of cell therapy. Our focus allows us to guarantee highly stable products of high quality, traceability and scientific rigor.

Central laboratory: processing & cryopreservation

In our laboratories, we are engaged in processing cord blood, cord tissue, placental tissue and amniotic membrane for stem cell extraction, quality control and sample storage. Our bio-bank has the capacity to cryopreserve a wide range of biological materials:

Umbilical cord blood stem cells
Umbilical cord tissue stem cells
Placental tissue stem cells
Amniotic membrane
Peripheral blood
Plasma and serum

Cryopreservation of cells is carried out in nitrogen vapor as a guarantee of their quality and maximum safety.

The quality control laboratory performs the complete characterization of the processed and released samples using various technologies (microscopy, PCR, cytofluorimetry, microbiology, proficiency testing, etc.) and issues the corresponding certificates of analysis.

To promote quality and safety in processing and preservation techniques, FamiCord employs highly qualified personnel (according to industry standards).

Our medical director is a physician with over 20 years combined international experience in clinic, medical devices and stem cell banking industries, particularly in the field of regulatory affairs and quality management. Her experience is evidenced by dozens of scientific publications and presentations at top international congresses.

Our QP and QA, are highly specialized in Good Manufacturing Practice and Good Distribution Practice.

Our Scientific Director, who also holds a Masters in Advanced Therapies Medicinal Products (ATMP) manufacturing, is fundamental to the development of protocols for regenerative medicine.

Research and development

In our R&D department we work:

Develop protocols for the derivation of stem cells from various sources
Develop protocols for long-term storage of stem cells
Implement the R&D protocols in the GMP laboratory
Work with the rest of the FamiCord group on internationally recognized clinical trials and develop production and preparation of cells for transplantation.

Thanks to our experience, we have provided consultations for enrollment in international clinical trials. Our scientific director has helped enroll more than 60 children with cerebral palsy in the internationally recognized protocols.

Strict GMP and ATMP requirements, comprehensive diagnostic and microbiological testing, controlled cryopreservation, and continuous monitoring of storage conditions ensure the long-term viability and therapeutic usability of the samples. Through our international partner network, we also enable their therapeutic use both nationally and internationally.
